Director of Congressional and Public Affairs, American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine
Mary-Lynn Bender is the Director of Congressional and Public Affairs at the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM), where she provides vision and direction for the association’s strategy to advance its public policy priorities on Capitol Hill. She is also responsible for advising executive leadership on political advocacy and implementing the organization’s public affairs and grassroots advocacy campaigns. Having been with AACOM for more than 10 years, she previously served as the Assistant Director of Government Relations, where she worked to support the organization’s leadership role in the health professions government relations community and increase outreach on and support for legislative and other health and higher education public policy priorities.
Prior to joining AACOM, Mary-Lynn worked for Virginia Cancer Specialists, P.C., an affiliate of the United Network of U.S. Oncology. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from West Virginia University and has worked as a news reporter and freelance writer, covering a broad range of issues.
